Muhammad (s): "The Greatest Man"
The Prophet of Islam, Muhammad –peace be upon him- was born in Arabia and he made Arabs a community of outstanding excellence both in manners and humanity. 
Wherever they- the holy companions of Prophet Muhammad (s)- went, the thought and life were revolutionized and this is the reason why Islam was spread around the world very rapidly after Prophet Muhammad’s (s) birth.
Prophet Muhammad (s) was very handsome and powerful, and his childhood gave indication of the sublime and dynamic personality that was going to emerge. As and when he grew up, the nobility of his behavior and personality showed greater impacts on anyone who behold him. With God’s will, he presented perfect personality being tolerant, magnanimous and extremely truthful that gave him a noble name ‘Al-Ameen’.
The Arabia, before the advent of Prophet Muhammad (s) was calamitous. Arabs were religiously ignorant and morally worsened. They were divided themselves in to clans and clans in to families and each family had its own idols in their domain. The Idolatry had gained such extreme hold in the Arabia and it was greater challenge on Prophet Muhammad (s). As we see from the very natural and religious perspectives of Islam, the fundamental tenet of Islam is “zero tolerance approach” to idolatry. Islam suggests worshiping a single God and Him alone, not being represented through idols. Women, War and Wine were the three ‘W’s of the time that the Arabs were mad about. A man could have as many wives as he wished and any number of mistresses. Prostitution was quite rife among them and they made money from ‘prostitution’ too. As for education, it was fully unknown to them. This is a small overview picture of the Arabia before Prophet Muhammad’s (s) mission.
Prophet Muhammad (s) had to put such hard efforts to put forth the ideologies of Islam and Moral life. It is Allah’s grace that when ignorance and moral darkness became rampant and the people were led by cruelty and oppression, they should be brought back to the right path. It was Prophet Muhammad (s) who brought significant ‘change’ in the history like rain after intense heat or light of day after night’s darkness. The Holy Prophet of Islam converted Arabs from being divided people and they became a united nation. The uncivilized people of the Arabs underwent a ‘transformation’ that made them most civilized people. His mission of religious renaissance in the Arabia of 23 years had become an illuminating example of revolution unparalleled in the known history that made him the ‘greatest man’ and ‘exemplary conduct’ forever.
I thought it is worth to quote Edward Gibbon’s comment on the unique personality of Prophet Muhammad (s).
“Muhammad was distinguished by the beauty of his person,
An outward gift which is seldom despised, except by those to
Whom it has been refused… His memory was capacious and retentive,
His wit easy and social, his imagination sublime, his judgment clear,
rapid and decisive. He possessed the courage both of thought and action…
bears the stamp of an original and superior genius.” (Edward Gibbon and J. B. Bury, 2004, The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, p. 357, published by Wildside Press LLC)

The virtues of Isra' and Mi'raj
Isra and Miraj is one of the most significant miracles that Prophet Muhammad (s) has b
een honored by Almighty Allah. In the Month of Rajab every year, a large number of Muslims worldwide celebrates the anniversary of Isra and Miraj, marking Prophet Muhammad’s miraculous journey from Makkah to Jerusalem and from there to farthest regions of skies, spaces and galaxies . Celebrating on such various substantial occasions of Prophet’s history has long been considered to be of greater importance as it can help us remember its importance, spread its messages to the public and teach ourselves specific lessons of such incidents.
Prophet’s ascension was merely physical
The entire journey of Al-Isra and Al-miraj was not just spiritual, but it was merely a physical journey as has been proved from the text of Holy Quran and from many hadiths. The Holy Quran talks about Prophet’s journey with the word of Subhaana-سُبْحَانَ
سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي أَسْرَىٰ بِعَبْدِهِ
“Glorified (and Exalted) be He (Allâh) Who took His slave (Muhammad SAW) for a journey by night”
In this verse, the word Subhaana puts a hint that the journey was merely physical because this word is used to record wonder or to show a great miracle. If miraj is merely a spiritual and is only a matter of Prophet’s dream, what is there unusual to use the phrase of Subhaan-سُبْحَانَ.
The phrase عَبۡدِ (Slave) also indicates that Prophet’s miraj was merely a journey to skies and galaxies, because, عَبۡدِ is not only spirit, but it is the name for the combination of body and spirit. These both explanations have been given by many Quran Mufassirs (Quran commentators) like Imam Faqrudheen Al-raazi.
Imam Raazi has also pointed that the events of s that Prophet Muhammad (s) has experienced during the time of Isra and Miraj and facilitating a specific and distinctive vehicle for His transportation are also some of the evidences that prove Prophet’s Miraj journey was merely a physical journey.
Did Prophet Muhammad (s) meet with Allah during Miraj?
As Ibn Abbas (R) stated, Prophet Muhammad (s) has met with Allah during the conversation in the Miraj day and it is considered to be the right view regarding whether Prophet (s) has met with Allah or not. The Hadith below is narrated from Ibn Abbas (r).
رأيت ربي تبارك وتعالى
This Hadith clearly states “I saw My Lord”.
Prophet Muhammad (s) has been granted five times prayer for His Ummah from Allah during this conversation and this has been proved by a number of Hadiths. The Five times prayer is the most significant worship that every Muslims are extremely responsible for, the first and foremost that Allah will ask about it in the Hereafter, a vital point that determines the difference between a true Muslim and others (according to a Hadith) and an extremely imperative worship that even the most unhealthy, ill-fallen and handicapped are not excused of, but are responsible to offer it five times by any means possible like Ishaarah. One of the main fundamental and salient features of this worship is that it is a direct conversation between a person and Allah (Munaajath) and therefore, it can be logically concluded that, it is awarded to the Holy Prophet for his followers in a very direct conversation (Munaajath).
Prophet Muhammad (s) has met with Allah and it makes him unique, peerless and greatest man ever lived. He has been glorified being taken to heavens, galaxies and all those super spaces that even our most advanced technology will surely fail to find a path on it. As Allah has declared in His Quran:
وَهُوَ بِالْأُفُقِ الْأَعْلَى
“While He is in the highest spaces of the Horizon”
والظاهر أن المراد محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم معناه استوى بمكان وهو بالمكان العالي رتبة ومنزلة في رفعة القدر (Imam Raazi)

Miracle of Quran
As the word of God, Quran it contains a lot of the magic that proves this fact. One of them is the fact that a number of scientific truths that we can only revealed by the technology of the 20th century it has been revealed about the Qur'an 1400 years ago.

Many facts, such as the creation of the universe from nothing, the expansion of the universe, and the distribution lines of the planets in the universe, which can only be known through modern astronomy, have been reported in the Qur'an about 1400 years ago.
It is including creation of universe, separation of sky and earth, the earth is round shape, the expansion of universe, the orbit and others.
Physics in Al-Quran

Biology in Al-Quran
The Holy Qur'an describes the development of human embryos in the womb through the explanation that really fit with the findings of modern embryology. It informs about :
- Part of the brain that we control out motion
- Human Birth
- Three stages of the baby in the uterus
- Fingerprint on human, and others
Many scientific facts, from the layers of the atmosphere to the mountain geological functions, from the formation of rain to the structure of the underwater world, described in the verses of the Quran. It informs about :
- Atmospheric layers
- The wind wed
- Function of the mountain
- Seas that are not mixed with each other
- The occurrence of rain, and others.
Ants in Quran
Allah said to Muhammad in the holy Quran :
Quran sura 27:16 : "And Sulaiman became the successor of Daud and said, O people, 'We have been taught the language of birds, and we have been bestowed of everything. Undoubtedly, this indeed is a manifest grace".
Quran sura 27:17 : "And there were gathered for Sulaiman his armies amongst jinns and men and birds, then they were hold back".
Quran sura 27:18 : "Until when they came to the valley of the ants, and said, 'O ants, enter your houses; lest Sulaiman and his armies may crush you unknowingly".
Quran sura 27:19 : "There upon he smilingly laughed at her works, and said, 'O my Lord, grant me guidance that I may be grateful for Your favour which You have bestowed upon me and my parents and that I may do such good works as would please You and admit me out of Your Mercy among Your those bondmen who deserve Your proximity".

Al-Quran and Astronomy
Tatkala merujuk kepada matahari dan bulan di dalam Al Qur'an, ditegaskan bahwa masing-masing bergerak dalam orbit atau garis edar tertentu. "Dan Dialah yang telah menciptakan malam dan siang, matahari dan bulan. Masing-masing dari keduanya itu beredar di dalam garis edarnya." (Al Qur'an, 21:33)
Disebutkan pula dalam ayat yang lain bahwa matahari tidaklah diam, tetapi bergerak dalam garis edar tertentu:
"Dan matahari berjalan di tempat peredarannya. Demikianlah ketetapan Yang Maha Perkasa lagi Maha Mengetahui." (Al Qur'an, 36:38)
Fakta-fakta yang disampaikan dalam Al Qur'an ini telah ditemukan melalui pengamatan astronomis di zaman kita. Menurut perhitungan para ahli astronomi, matahari bergerak dengan kecepatan luar biasa yang mencapai 720 ribu km per jam ke arah bintang Vega dalam sebuah garis edar yang disebut Solar Apex. Ini berarti matahari bergerak sejauh kurang lebih 17.280.000 kilometer dalam sehari. Bersama matahari, semua planet dan satelit dalam sistem gravitasi matahari juga berjalan menempuh jarak ini. Selanjutnya, semua bintang di alam semesta berada dalam suatu gerakan serupa yang terencana.
Fakta-fakta yang disampaikan dalam Al Qur'an ini telah ditemukan melalui pengamatan astronomis di zaman kita. Komet ini memiliki garis edar khusus dan bergerak mengikuti garis edar ini secara harmonis bersama-sama dengan benda-benda langit lainnya. |
"Demi langit yang mempunyai jalan-jalan." (Al Qur'an, 51:7)
Terdapat sekitar 200 milyar galaksi di alam semesta yang masing-masing terdiri dari hampir 200 bintang. Sebagian besar bintang-bintang ini mempunyai planet, dan sebagian besar planet-planet ini mempunyai bulan. Semua benda langit tersebut bergerak dalam garis peredaran yang diperhitungkan dengan sangat teliti. Selama jutaan tahun, masing-masing seolah "berenang" sepanjang garis edarnya dalam keserasian dan keteraturan yang sempurna bersama dengan yang lain. Selain itu, sejumlah komet juga bergerak bersama sepanjang garis edar yang ditetapkan baginya.  Semua benda langit termasuk planet, satelit yang mengiringi planet, bintang, dan bahkan galaksi, memiliki orbit atau garis edar mereka masing-masing. Semua orbit ini telah ditetapkan berdasarkan perhitungan yang sangat teliti dengan cermat. Yang membangun dan memelihara tatanan sempurna ini adalah Allah, Pencipta seluruh sekalian alam. |
Dapat dipastikan bahwa pada saat Al Qur'an diturunkan, manusia tidak memiliki teleskop masa kini ataupun teknologi canggih untuk mengamati ruang angkasa berjarak jutaan kilometer, tidak pula pengetahuan fisika ataupun astronomi modern. Karenanya, saat itu tidaklah mungkin untuk mengatakan secara ilmiah bahwa ruang angkasa "dipenuhi lintasan dan garis edar" sebagaimana dinyatakan dalam ayat tersebut. Akan tetapi, hal ini dinyatakan secara terbuka kepada kita dalam Al Qur'an yang diturunkan pada saat itu: karena Al Qur'an adalah firman Allah.
